TAKHINI NEIGHBOURHOOD ASSOCIATION
Constitution
Constitution for Takhini Neighbourhood Association
Version 02.00 - November 2023
Purpose: To represent member residents of Takhini Neighbourhood on important community issues.
The Association shall operate on the following principles:
-
Represent Association members, not all Takhini residents. The Association will strive to be the main representative of the neighbourhood by building a large membership base. However, the Association recognizes that not all residents will join the Association, and therefore, we do not claim to represent all the citizens of Takhini.
-
Be respectful of others’ views. The Association recognizes that there are a range of viewpoints on issues. Directors and members will be respectful when addressing viewpoints that do not agree with their own. The Association will represent the range of viewpoints expressed by members and avoid presenting a consensus viewpoint when a consensus has not been reached.
-
Be respectful of others’ time. Directors and members will be efficient and effective with Association activities, including meetings and emails, making decisions and taking action in a timely manner.
-
Establish priorities realistically. The Association recognizes that there will always be more issues of concern to members than the directors will be able to take action on. Directors will triage issues to establish priorities based on the following criteria:

A. A high total number members interested;
B. Interest from members from all three Takhini areas;
C. A high level of concern to members about the impacts of the issue;
D. Potential of a substantial benefit to members by pursuing the issue; or
E. Time-limited issues (such as government engagement periods).

Directors may choose not to prioritize an issue based on the following criteria:

F. Process or next steps to pursue an issue are not clear or the information on an issue is incomplete;
G. There are inadequate human, financial or planning resources to pursue the issue; or
H. Issue does not align with the Association’s other priorities.
